About

Did you know?

In 1967 WRESAT was launched on a US Redstone rocket reaching low Earth orbit positioning Australia as the third OECD nation on Earth to place its very own satellite into space.

With the advent of commercial space launches, the establishment of our very own space agency and with the rise of the space manufacturing sector, Australia is now poised to take advantage of Space 2.0.

Josh Keegan is the host of The Space Down Under interviewing the people behind a swag of Australian universities and businesses as they forge a new path for the Australian Space Industry. He take you behind the scenes to learn how they are making their mark on the next space race.

These people are forging sovereign manufacturing and launch capability; creating an environment where kids have a future in our very own space industry; and where Aussienauts will one day take their place alongside other great space faring nations.

Josh Keegan

Josh started the The Space Down Under, coincidently, in the same year as the Australian Space Agency - 2018! Josh has had a very wide ranging career including: CEO, Entrepreneur, Speaker, Blogger, Mentor, Contractor and was at one time a Drone Guy. The most important job I’ve had is being Dad to two (2) girls and husband to one (1) wife…and now YouTube host!

The intent of the The Space Down Under is, and always has been, to exclusively focus on the Australian Space Industry. As a nation, Australia has done many things in the global space industry, but always in the background as a supporting role. In 2018, Josh has been on a continual mission to change the narrative, educating the world on the wonderful things happening Down Under.

Using YouTube as a non-traditional platform, The Space Down Under provides companies, businesses, universities and individuals a platform to talk about what they want rather than a cut-down version traditional media offers, showcasing what they do to a global audience.

The mission of The Space Down Under is to inform, educate and ultimately, inspire others about our the Australian Space Industry.

Jaxon Thomas

Hello all, my name is Jaxon Thomas.

I shall be assisting Josh Keegan behind the scenes at The Space Down Under as an intern, stuff like merchandise help, YouTube thumbnailing, upkeep of social media feeds, etc. I have a very high interest of the aerospace industry, and wish to hopefully someday be able to build rocket engines for Rocket Lab.

I am a student at Aviation High School studying ATAR subjects so I can have the opportunity to go to UQ (University of Queensland) to join their rocketry club for hands-on experience. I am a member of many clubs involved with things within and beyond our atmosphere, those clubs involving:

  • The Queensland Rocketry Society

  • Brisbane Astronomy Club

  • Brisbane’s YSA (Young Scientists of Australia)

I just want to forward a great thank you to Josh Keegan for supplying me with such an opportunity, and for being a very understanding and caring human being. I look forward into meeting you all on this journey!

Per aspera, ad astra!
